Well it is that time of year again.  Droves of Longhorn faithful will join a few brave souls from Mobilehoma to watch the very best college football tradition live at the Texas State Fair.  I have once again missed an opportunity to see this game from the stands.  I will instead do as I always do and watch it on TV with some great friends who also happen to be incredibly devoted Horn fans.

As for the game, we will finally be able to answer the one indurring question about our offense:

Was last year great coaching of an offense with great players, or Mack and Greg steping aside and letting Vince prove that he is the greatest player in the history of college football?

I am personally hoping that Greg Davis finally figured out that he was given the talent to be a champion and he finally put all the pieces together.  I also know that I could be very wrong.  Mr Davis has already shown this year that he does not have complete faith in Colt to execute a winning offense. I think that this is readily apparent when Colt is not allowed to use his arm to beat teams.  Of course, the running game has been excellent this year, but BlowU will not allow us to be one dimensional on offense.  We are going to have to test their secondary to win this game.

As for defense, Chizik may be able to win this game in spite of our our offense.  I look for this defense to get some turnovers and turn them into points.  At least 7, maybe more.  I also think that this defense can prevent Peterson from torching us and make Paul Thompson beat us with his arm.  If you look at our DB’s, PT’s task is pretty daunting.  And I also have faith that this defense can prevent any turnovers that we give up from converting to TD’s (see the 2005 OSU game for an example).

In the end, I expect the good guys to win a game that will be too close for me.  Something like 27-17 for the final.
